When we lay someone to rest in their final resting place, we want to treat their remains with the dignity they deserve. There are a couple of possibilities when it comes to how the body is treated. The two main options are burials or cremation. Deciding between them is often based on cultural traditions or the last wishes of the deceased. If you are organising a coffin for a loved one or for yourself ahead of your passing, there are a number of different casket options to choose from.

While metal is available, most caskets are made from wood. This is not just because we have been using it for centuries and it has aesthetic appeal, but also because this material is biodegradable. As such, they will disintegrate over time and become one with the earth again. There are also caskets in development abroad that are even more environmentally-focused, so that less of an impact is made on the land.

Not just a wooden box, caskets are intricately designed with unique finishes to honour the deceased and to give the family a variety of options. Some are more basic, while others are more intricately carved. The more detailed and luxurious the casket, the more you can expect to pay.

Our options

At 21st Century Funeral Services, we offer burial services to our policyholders. Along with that, we have a selection of caskets that can be chosen for yourself or a loved one. Some of our shapes include:

  • The Dome Casket This is a dome shape with a lifted round top and curved sides or four sides.
  • The Prince Dome This shape also has a rounded top but is smaller and flatter than the standard dome option.
  • The 3-Tier Casket This design has a flat top with a rectangular shape that resembles stacked rectangles, getting larger from top to bottom.
  • The Ruby Curve Casket This casket has a rounder shape and has a ruby diamond-shaped cut top.
  • The Four-Corner Casket This popular design is a rectangular and flat casket that looks like a treasure box.
  • The Flat Lid Casket This shape has four corners and a flat lid rather than a rounded or curved top.

We also offer cremation services. If this is something you or your family would prefer, this can be discussed with our team. The ashes can then be returned to the family to be kept or scattered somewhere meaningful like the ocean.

Whether you want to be buried or cremated, we can make sure that your remains are treated with the utmost care and compassion so that you know that, even in death, you will still have your dignity.
